CBD (or cannabidiol) is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in cannabis.

The ECS is a self-regulating system of cannabinoid receptors that are located throughout the body. It communicates with nearly every system of the body, including the central nervous system, immune system and organs.

There are two cannabinoid receptors - CB1 and CB2 - and they are located on cells throughout the body. Cannabinoids are designed to stimulate the cannabinoid receptors. This stimulation activates the receiving neuron into action, triggering a set of events to pass along the message and carry out a variety of cellular responses needed for homeostasis and healthy functioning.

CB1 receptors are primarily located on nerve cells in the brain, spinal cord and central nervous system. They have been found to play a role in memory processing, motor regulation, discomfort sensation, mood, and sleep. CB2 receptors are found throughout cells in the immune system and its associated structures. When activated, they stimulate a response that fights inflammation, which can reduce discomfort and minimize damage to tissues.

NO. They will not get you high. CBD is non-psychoactive, guaranteed.

While hemp-based CBD products are manufactured from hemp plants containing less than 0.3% THC, there are still trace amounts. There are some testing facilities that check for a spectrum of cannabinoids that could trigger a positive drug test. There is a small percentage that consuming CBD may lead to a positive drug test for THC, as it does with any product made from hemp. If this is a significant concern, we advise speaking with your employer or doctor before use.

The main difference between CBD oil and hemp oil is that hemp oil does not contain CBD. CBD and hemp oils are made from different parts of the plant and have different purposes. CBD is a compound found in industrial hemp. At Medterra, we utilize a whole plant CO2 extraction process that allows us to draw the CBD from the plant material and filter out unnatural substances, while maximizing pure CBD concentration. While CBD is extracted from the entire plant, minus the seeds, hemp oil is extracted from the seeds. Hemp oil is made from pressing hemp seeds and is used in a variety of products. Hemp-seed oil is used as a protein supplement for food, as varnish for wood and is often used in hair and skin products.

Hemp and marijuana come from the same plant family, Cannabis sativa. The main difference between the two is their level of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – the illegal, psychotropic cannabinoid. According to the Agricultural Act of 2014, American legislation describes legal hemp plants as containing less than 0.3 percent THC.
